Everything you need to run the back office of your business and start getting found is free for teams of up to 50: full accounting, payroll, your everyday workspace, and the marketing tools to start getting found. Step up to Lite at $19 / seat / month to get paid and grow, or Pro at $49 / seat / month to sell on your own terms and build your own product. Signing up is free and plan-less: no plan selection and no credit card at signup. Every new account starts on Free, and you upgrade whenever you’re ready, in-app under Settings → Personal Organizations. Every seat on a plan is billed at that plan’s rate, pro-rated to your cycle.

Available on Lite and Pro only. Each term is a single one-time payment, made up-front, that covers the whole term at the fixed totals below. It is not a recurring charge, not a discount code, and there is nothing to enter at checkout. The payment covers every seat you purchase and applies to the per-seat plan rate only; it does not apply to storage overage or to usage credits. A prepaid term does not auto-renew: when it ends, your organization returns to then-current standard pricing (or the Free tier if you don’t purchase a plan). For comparison, the standard prices are $19 / $49 per seat per month, or $193.80 / $499.80 per seat per year (15% off) on the recurring Annual subscription (auto-renews). The Annual subscription and the 1-year term are always available and can be used an unlimited number of times. The deeper terms are capped by seats sold: once a term’s seat allotment is claimed it is no longer offered.

The Annual subscription and the 1-year prepaid term are standing offers; use them an unlimited number of times. The deeper 2–5 year Early Adopter terms are capped by seats sold and may be removed at any time once their seat allotments are claimed. Each term is paid once, up-front, in a single payment at the fixed totals above; it does not auto-renew and no further plan payments are due during the term. When the term ends, your organization moves to then-current standard pricing (or the Free tier if no plan is purchased). Plans are managed in-app after you sign up (Settings → Personal Organizations). Backbuild is billed per seat with no volume discounts: every seat is the same price. Add a teammate at any time; seat top-ups are available on recurring plans (pro-rated to your billing cycle) and on active prepaid terms.

The research and publishing edition of Backbuild: LaTeX authoring, the HOL kernel and symbolic solver, the UI-based proof system, an AI research and writing assistant, and publishing tools. Every Science seat also includes the base Backbuild platform, so the back office, workspace apps, and security features in the comparison table above come standard. Free for current students and faculty with a valid student or faculty ID, and free for 6 months after the ID expires; after that, the graduate discount ladder detailed below eases individual researchers back to the standard yearly rate.

Backbuild Science includes the HOL kernel and IDE extension; either Backbuild Science or Backbuild Prove on its own unlocks them. On top of that, Science adds LaTeX export from Docs, SQLite export from Sheets (Parquet export coming soon), and the UI-based proof system and proof entries with an optional Lean 4 cross-check of verified results; ORCID and Zenodo research-service integrations are coming soon. AI usage is not bundled in: every Science plan, including the free Academic tier, can use the AI research and writing assistant to drive your editing and drafting; just bring your own AI provider keys, or purchase universal usage credits to cover the usage.

Backbuild Science Individual is free while you’re a student or faculty member, and stays free for 6 months after your ID expires. After that, the graduate discount ladder below applies to the Individual plan on yearly billing, easing you back to the standard rate over time. Team, Business, and Enterprise are fixed plans billed yearly by seat and are not part of the graduate ladder.

ID verification is required for the free student and faculty tier and the graduate ladder. We accept government-issued student and faculty IDs from accredited institutions worldwide. Eligibility is re-checked annually; if you re-enroll or rejoin a faculty role, your free tier resets.

Formal verification with AI-written proofs, IDE integration, and signed certificates. Free public verification of signed proof certificates across all 20+ languages. Anyone can verify that proven code is correct, at no cost. Proof language tiers determine how many languages you can write and run proofs in.

SQL pricing scales with organizational complexity.

Universal usage credits work with any Backbuild plan, including Free, and apply organization-wide. One credit pool covers everything metered: the built-in AI models, containers, and audio features (speech-to-text and text-to-speech), plus email, file and database storage, and Real-Time Session Minutes beyond your monthly allowances (including the end-user sessions of a product you build and run on Backbuild). Bring your own AI keys and that AI usage is on you, not your credits. Credits apply to every metered usage type and are not analogous to AI tokens in any way.

Other Usage

Four things meter beyond a monthly free allowance: Real-Time Session Minutes, file storage, database storage, and outbound email. Usage beyond the allowance simply draws universal usage credits. There is never a separate bill.

The same rules cover session minutes and both storage pools: overage is metered continuously, totaled across the month, converted to universal usage credits, and deducted automatically from next month’s credit allotment; it is never billed separately and there are no surprise invoices. Outbound email beyond your allowance draws credits at send time. Unused credits roll over for up to 3 months, and session minutes, file storage, and database storage are each independently capped at half of your month’s available credits, including what you have banked. Credit packages are available on every tier, including Free. Without credits, usage pauses at the free allowance and existing data always stays readable. Data stored by real-time sessions counts toward your database storage allowance.

Free accounts with no activity for 6 consecutive months are sent a deactivation notice. If no activity occurs in the 30 days that follow, the account is deleted and all of its data is permanently wiped. Signing in at any point during that time keeps your account active.

Dedicated support is available as a separate annual contract, by plan: Lite can add Business Support (Standard); Pro can add any Business Support level; and Enterprise can add Enterprise Support. Contact sales to add a support contract to your subscription.
