Release Notes for Oct 19 to Oct 25, 2026

2026.10.25-AM.3
Improved
- In the terminal, programs that scroll or redraw the screen heavily could make your session stall while you were reading it. The terminal now keeps up with that output, so your session stays responsive.
- Text full of invisible formatting characters could slow a terminal session down. Terminal sessions now stay responsive when a program prints that kind of text.
- When an AI provider connection test failed, the message could say you were not authorized even when permissions had nothing to do with it. A failed test now says what actually went wrong, such as no test being available for that provider yet or no key being connected yet. Now you know what to do next.
Fixed
- Scrolling back through a terminal session could show the wrong lines, with earlier output shifted or missing. Scrolling back now shows your recent output as it actually appeared.
- Opening a container's workspace in your browser showed no address to open it at, so the workspace could not load. Your container's workspace now shows the address to open it at.

2026.10.24-AM.2
New
- Inviting someone to your organization meant copying the invitation link and sending it to them yourself. Backbuild can now email the invitation for you as soon as you create it. On your organization's members page, choose Invite Member.
- When an invitation link stopped working or never reached the person, the only fix was to revoke it and invite them all over again. Each pending invitation now lets you copy a new link or send the email again, without starting over. Open the Pending Invites tab on your organization's members page.
Improved
- You could not tell whether the person you invited had opened your invitation, or when it would stop working. Pending invitations now show whether one has been opened, and when it expires.
- Invitations could stop working before the person you invited got around to accepting. Invitations now stay open longer, so the people you invite have more time to join.
- When an invitation no longer worked, the page listed the possible reasons without saying which one applied. The page now says whether the invitation expired, was cancelled or was already used, and what to do next.
- If you already had a Backbuild account, the option to sign in was easy to miss on the invitation page. The invitation page now offers Sign in up front, so you can accept with the account you already have.
- Accepting an invitation while you were signed in could leave you in the organization you were already using. Accepting now takes you straight into the organization that invited you.
Fixed
- Inviting someone again after their invitation expired was refused as already pending until you revoked the old invitation. You can now invite them again right away.

2026.10.23-AM.5
Improved
- Virtual workers are the AI team members you set up in Backbuild. When one was turned down while moving a ticket, it could not tell whether anything had changed. A turned-down ticket move now makes clear that nothing was changed, so the virtual worker can tell you what happened. AI tools you connect get the same answer.
- Your account, your shared content and the computers you connect need dependable protection. Protections for your account, your shared content and the computers you connect have been strengthened.
Fixed
- Setting up your own domain in Email could get stuck at the final check, even with everything in place, so its mail never arrived. The final check now passes once your domain is set up, and mail sent to it starts arriving.
- Some virtual workers had every move of a ticket turned down, so their tickets stayed stuck. They can now move a ticket into the stages they are allowed to reach. Any other move is still turned down, and the ticket stays where it was.
- Adding one of your own computers in Remote Hosts could say the install command was unavailable, leaving nothing to run on the machine. The Add a host card now gives you the install command, so you can connect your computer. Open Settings, then Remote Hosts under Administration, and use the Add a host card on the Hosts tab.

2026.10.21-AM.1
Improved
- Your account, your shared content and the services you connect need dependable protection. Protections for your account, your shared content, the images in your mail and the services you connect have been strengthened.
Fixed
- An AI tool testing your SMS and voice provider connection could report the provider as unreachable, even though the connection worked. The test now reports whether the connection really works.

2026.10.14-AM.3
New
- You could not see or choose the period saved copies of your documents and sheets are kept. Organization owners and administrators can now open Document Snapshots in Settings. There they see the period copies are kept and the space they take, and can change the period. Choosing a shorter period than the default asks you to confirm the change. Open Settings and choose Document Snapshots.
- Linking a repository for a virtual worker meant setting up a new connection each time, even when you already had one. When you link a repository for a worker, you can now reuse an existing connection from your account or your organization. Progress and error messages are also clearer. Open the worker, choose Configure, and find the repository section.
- You could not clear the work queued for a paused virtual worker, so all of it ran when you resumed the worker. Your connected AI tools can now cancel a paused worker's queued tasks, all of them or only those in stages you choose. They can show what would be cancelled first.
- Setting up a virtual worker from your AI tools left you guessing what it still needed before it could run. Your connected AI tools can now check a worker's setup and choose which linked AI account it works with. Organization API keys can also set a worker's size and the stages it staffs.
- The AI Assistant side panel stayed one width, so you could not give a long answer more room or leave your document more space. You can now drag the inner edge of the panel to resize it, or focus that edge and use the arrow keys. Your chosen width is remembered on your device. Open the AI Assistant side panel and drag its inner edge.
- Reopening your Secrets vault on the same browser meant typing your master password every time. You can now choose instant vault unlock, which reopens your vault on a browser where you unlocked it before. Organization owners and administrators can allow or turn off this choice for everyone. Open Settings and find Instant vault unlock.
- You could not set a monthly spending ceiling. A busy month of virtual worker and container use could draw down your credits faster than you expected. Billing now has Spend controls: a monthly budget with alerts, a ceiling for each virtual worker, and this month's use with a projection. Reaching the budget stops credit-paid container and worker sessions until you raise it or the month rolls over. Existing organizations start with no budget set and get a one-time notice offering to set one. Open Billing and find Spend controls. Organization owners and administrators can change them.
Improved
- A saved copy of a document or sheet could be missing your most recent edits. Saved copies of documents and sheets now include your recent edits.
- A virtual worker could stall partway through a workflow stage, or report a stage as done when its work had not finished. Workers now complete stages more reliably, and report a stage as done only when it is.
- Secrets vault access errors could be confusing. Clearer messages now help you understand when access fails and give you a reference to share with support.
- Some dialogs were difficult to use with a keyboard or a screen reader. Dialog accessibility has improved for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Your account and your information need dependable protection. Account security and protections for shared and private information have been strengthened.
Fixed
- With the AI Assistant panel open, some dialogs and side panels in Sheets and Docs appeared underneath it. The panel could also show on top of a running slideshow. These dialogs now appear above the panel, and the panel is hidden while you present.
- The state filter on the Tickets screen could show no states to choose from. It now lists the states your tickets can be in.
- Saving a Tickets dashboard widget with no filter conditions could be refused as invalid. A widget with no filter conditions now saves and shows all tickets.
- A paused virtual worker could still be handed new ticket work. Pausing a worker now stops new work from being sent to it until you resume it.
- A follow-up message in a conversation with a virtual worker could be refused as if the worker were full, even though it was idle. You can now send a follow-up message right after the worker finishes a response.
- A chat that last ran on one of your devices could still be sent there after the device disconnected, where it could not run. The message box now stays disabled with an explanation until the device is connected again, and you can choose another place to run the chat.
- Your Secrets vault could refuse to unlock even when you entered the right master password. The vault now unlocks with your master password.
- Switching organizations could show the switching message again and again while the side panel flipped back and forth between organizations. Switching organizations now shows the message once, and the side panel changes once.
- The sign-up email button could send you back to the beginning. It now takes you to the right place so you can continue signing up.
- Changing your password could be refused, and the password screen did not let you finish it. Changing your password now completes on the same screen, and you do not have to start over.
